At Satanta District Hospital & Long Term Care Unit, we deal with sickness and injury all the time. However, the challenges presented by the pandemic have been unique. We've worked hard to continue providing quality care during this difficult time.
Our services are still available. We have a Level IV Trauma Center and a five-star long-term care facility. We provide innovative Swing Bed care and our wait times for emergency 24/7 service are minimal. We even work with most insurers. Call now to learn about our COVID-19 response or to schedule an appointment at one of our facilities.
COVID-19 is a respiratory illness, which means it commonly spreads from person to person through respiratory droplets. These droplets are produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Then, these droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby. They can possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
Spread is more likely when people are in close contact with one another. Close contact is considered within about 6 feet. It may be possible to get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes. This is probably not the main way the virus spreads, but research is ongoing.
The virus that causes COVID-19 is spreading very easily and sustainably between people. Information from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic suggests that this virus is spreading more efficiently than influenza but not as efficiently as measles, which is highly contagious. At Satanta District Hospital, we're doing what we can to slow the spread.
People of all ages can be infected by COVID-19. Older people and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease) appear to be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus.
The WHO advises people of all ages to take steps to protect themselves from the virus. To do this, follow good hand hygiene by washing or sanitizing your hands frequently. You should also follow good respiratory hygiene.
